Happy Memorial Day!

Sorry I haven't written in a while, but I have gotten sidetracked from the Star Wars world. Here is a little holiday comic I found on starwars.com:

Death Star Play Station

The Death Star Play Station was sold in 1978 for originally $17.99. This particular playset is worth a fortune because it was more rare then many others at the time. The toy originally came equipped with a trash compacter, laser cannon, and a rope swing so there are no shortage of features.

Figure of the week: Princess Leia

The original Princess Leia was released in 1978 in the original 12 back (first 12 figures). The same figure ran all the way through the  Return of the Jedi series and the tri-logo series. Princess Leia is one of those figures that has no major variations and was a farely simple character in its day. The figure is only worth about $15 but it is still a must have for collections.

And I only paid $32! So if you are ever in Victoria, BC check this store out. Here is a link to their website.http://www.cherrybombtoys.com/toyshow.html

Figure of the week: Logray the Ewok

Logray was made in 1983 in the Return of the Jedi and the tri-logo series. The figures doesn't have many variations except for minor paint variations. Some people think that the ewoks are scary. I don't know how I feel about them. Please tell me how you feel about the ewoks in the comment in the space below. Thanks!

Star Wars Frames

Star Wars Frames is one of the coolest books this year. A 6 book collection in an engraved wooden box with a hand signed George Lucas Seal is something no collector can pass up. Each book has been filled with hand-selected pictures that are from George's point of view. There are limited quantities of this book;1138 copies to be exact which is a tribute to George's first screenplay, THX 1138. Sadly, this book is $3000 dollars but it is truly one of a kind. If you have this kind of money, don't miss this rare oppurtunity. You can buy one at starwars.com. Please watch this cool video on how they made the book http://starwars.com/video/view/001214.html

    Figure of the week: Ugnaught

Ugnaught was available from 1980 all the way to the Return of the Jedi series and the tri-logo series. The Ugnaught was first available on a card but was also available in the Cloud City Playset and on one of Canada's exlusive shrink wrapped cards. A major variation was the Ugnaught had a purple and a blue shirt available but they are pretty much worth the same. The Ugnaughts even came with little purses. I think that the Ugnaught is a weird creature and it doesn't apear very much in Empire Strikes Back. Apparently though, the figure was popular and sold farely well suprisingly. As always, please check out Rebelscum.com for more information.

Figure of the week: Lando Calrissian

Lando is first seen in the Empire Strikes Back collection from 1980. A major variation is that some of the figures have painted eyes and teeth well others don't. They are both worth the same though. Another Lando in General Pilot outfit is from the Return of the Jedi collection in 1983. Lando is a pretty popular figure but the General pilot version is of the more rarer sector. And as always, please visit rebelscum.com for their great figure archive for more information.

    Figure of the week: Chewbacca

Chewbacca was available through the original series to the Power of the Force series in 85'. It included a black bowcaster; a weapon only used for Chewwie. A darker green bowcaster was the first color of the weapon and is lead to be believed used for the early bird package (though this hasn't been proven). Other then small packaging and discoloration variations there are no main variations on this figure. Chewbacca is one of my favorite figures because its easy simplicity of design is superb making it a very popular figure. It can be worth anything from $10 for a loose figure to hundreds of dollars for it in package! And as always, please check out the ever helpful Rebelscum.com for more figure information!

    Figure of the week: Hammerhead

This week's figure is Hammerhead; the classic character from the famed Cantina scene. Although his role was small, he was made into a popular action figure in 1978. His original retail value was only $1.99 which makes todays figure prices look outrageous. His blaster was actually of duplicate of the stormtrooper as many of the other figures had duplicate weapons. There arn't really any major variations that I know of. Here are some pics and as always, check out rebelscum.com for some great figure information.

    After Christmas

Sadly, Christmas is over but on the bright side a new year has come. 2010 sure wen't quick! Hopefully for Christmas you got some star wars stuff. I got some micromachines from the 1995 era and I got some of the new vintage figures from Toys R Us. I also got the new AT AT for my collection which was a big want for many people this Christmas. Although I didn't get any vintage star wars stuff except for an original Darth Vader Tie Fighter (C-8 condition!), I am hoping to go down to some of the local stores and do some after christmas star wars shopping. Who knows, there might even be some deals! So hopefully people who read this blog had a good christmas. Please write some comments telling us what star wars stuff you got! Happy New Year!
Also check out starwars.com for a looking back at 2010 article to see everything star wars that happened in 2010!
